Porting out means moving a phone number you own from Kixie to another provider, keeping the same number. Most of the work is done by your new provider, not by Kixie.
Start this before you cancel, not after. At cancellation all numbers are released, and a released number cannot be recovered. See How to Cancel Your Kixie Account.
Step 1: Ask Your New Provider to Start the Port
Contact the provider you are moving to and request a number transfer. They run the process and will tell you what they need from you.
Step 2: Gather What Your New Provider Will Ask For
- Port Out PIN. Request this from Kixie, either on live chat or by emailing support@kixie.com.
- First and last name. Kixie does not hold a name against the account, so use the name of a manager on your Kixie account.
- Company name. The registered business name on your Kixie account.
- Account number. This is your Kixie Business ID. Find it at Manage > Account Settings, in the INTEGRATIONS section, in the Business Id field.
- Business address. Your new provider needs the address registered against the number with Kixie's underlying carrier, which is not your own business address. Ask support@kixie.com for the exact address to give them, and include it in your first message so you are not waiting on a second reply.
Step 3: Register for 10DLC Again with Your New Provider
If you send SMS, your 10DLC registration does not move with the number. You have to register again with your new provider. That process can take 4 to 8 weeks, so start it early. Until it completes, you will not be able to send business texts on the ported number.
Step 4: Keep Your Kixie Account Active Until the Port Completes
This is the step that goes wrong most often. Do not cancel Kixie while a port is in progress. If the account lapses part-way through, the port fails and the numbers can be lost.
A port usually takes a few business days. Delays happen when submitted details do not match, or when the receiving carrier asks for extra verification.
If Your Port Request Is Rejected
Check the details you submitted, in this order, because these are the three that most often do not match:
- Port Out PIN
- Account number, which is your Business ID
- Business address
If it is still rejected, contact support@kixie.com with your Business ID and the rejection reason your new provider gave you.

Other Ways This Shows Up
Customers describe this as porting out, transferring a number away from Kixie, taking their number to another provider, keeping their number after cancelling, or asking for a port out PIN. If any of those match what you are doing, the steps above are the right place to start.
